These are some of the most common questions I receive as comments and messages on social media. I’m always happy to chat!
I share updates on YouTube as well.
What size is your planner?
(The black travelers notebook.)
And did you lengthen the strap?
Standard. Regular. Narrow. Foxy Fix No. 6. Generally 8.25 x 4.3 inches or 210 x 110 millimeters. Always check your measurements before purchasing.
Van der Spek offers almost endless customization options of their leather products, including making the strap longer to accommodate more inserts inside. I did not lengthen the strap of mine. I also did not add stiffener. The VDS Facebook group is a great resource for other opinions on these options.

How have you stayed in the same planner for so long?
I designed the perfect planner for my needs after years of trying other sizes and methods. And then I bought it in black, because it’s my favorite color. My Special Nomad was a well-planned investment, as changing planners does not bring me joy. I also use stickers and scrapbook paper to customize the interior as we move through the seasons. These opportunities to change the appearance and flex some creative muscles keep me from overhauling my planning system.
Do you really journal and write tasks next to each other?
Yes! And it makes all the difference. Keeping a journal, of any size, makes such a positive difference in my mental health. Within my daily bullet journal pages, I make short notes about the day. This is the record of how I spend my days. I’m able to capture the joyful moments, unexpected phone calls, and yes, mundane tasks when needed. My dot grid notebook is always available to capture my actions and ideas. A consistent bullet journal key and weekly review process keep items from becoming “lost.” Here is my weekly routine: https://inkimperfections.com/2020/05/01/weekly-review/

How long does your bullet journal insert last?
On average, four months. Shortest time was three months and longest was six months. Within my travelers notebook, I keep a 160 page insert from Paper Penguin Co. It’s made with Tomoe River Paper, which is a super thin, yet durable, and fountain pen friendly paper.
